The twentieth edition of the cycling Tour ta’ Malta reaped satisfactory results for Birkirkara St. Joseph with the highlight achieved as Wayne Spiteri grabbed a podium place in the fourth and final stage of the tour. As expected, the Yellows found the going quite tough in the following two mass start stages of the Tour, notwithstanding the very positive contributions of Steve Sciberras, Keith Galea and Graham Borg. However the fourth and final stage was literally written in silver in the Club’s history, as Wayne Spiteri covered himself with glory as he powered his way to second place in the time-trial.

Michelle Vella Wood - Third Maltese Female in the Tour ta' Malta

In the females’ category, Birkirkara St. Joseph’s Michelle Vella Wood kept herself among the top Maltese, and although she struggled to find her true form, she managed a fourth place in the final stage of the Tour out of the forty participating females.  Her time was just one minute behind the stage and tour winner.  She was the third Maltese female in the final classification.
