Birkirkara St. Joseph’s Dermot Galea is the winner of the National People’s Choice Award in the finals of Gieh l-Isport Malti 2014 held this evening at the Golden Sands Radisson SAS. His nomination followed his historic qualification for, and his performance in, the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii last year, the first Maltese triathlete to achieve such a qualification.

Dedicating his victory to the local triathlon community and to his nearest and dearest, Galea carried the honours in his trademark manner – astoundingly.

Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club would like to congratulate Galea, a true sportsman born and bred within its folds, for this outstanding honour. Yet again he has raised our Club colours to dizzying heights and we wish him the best of luck for his future endeavours.
